Airfield then closed and rebuilt. 12/42 to 03/46, Now satellite to Upper Heyford, No.16 OTU with Wellingtons until 12/44. No.1655 Mosquito Training Unit replaced the Wellingtons and unit renamed 16 OTU 01/45, moved to Cottesmore. In 1943 also used as flight test centre for the Gloster E.28/39 Whittle/ Pioneer and F.9/40 Meteor jets from Brockworth. Airfield closed in 1946. |
