Airfield Today:
Brownfield for building/industrial use. Many recent British TV series have been filmed here including the Channel 4 paintball series 'X Fire' in 2001/2, BBC's Dog Borstal and the awful 'Space Cadets' in 2005 using the control tower as HQ

History:

11/44, No. 11 Group Fighter Command, Squadrons based here at various times up to the end of the war: 64, 118, 126, 129, 165, 234. Postwar also used by 124, 56, 234, 245, 226 OCU and 61 OTU until the airfield closed 9/49.
9/51, F-86 Sabres of the 91st Fighter Interceptor Squadron, 81st Fighter Interceptor Group moved here from the USA (92nd FIS and 116th FIS, 81st FIG were based at Shepherds Grove). ...
