3/44 to 7/44, 584th, 585th, 586th and 587th Bombardment Suadrons of the 394th Bombardment Group, 'The Bridge Busters' with B-26 Marauders. First mission 23/3/44, flew a total of 96 missions, losing 16 Marauders before moving to Homsley South airfield in the New Forest.
9/44, used temporarily by the IX Troop Carrier Command as an emergency airfield.
3/45, 315th Troop Carrier Group flew 80 C-47s to drop men of the British 6th Airborne Division in the assault on the Rhine.
1946, used to house homeless people, 1946 to 1952, used for motor racing. 1955 bought by Ford as a truck test track. 1990, control tower used by Essex Police.
