02/41 to 11/41, 137 Sqn formed here with Westland Whirlwind fighters. 08/41 to 01/42, 263 Sqn with Whirlwinds. 08/41 to 09/41, 125 Sqn with Defiant nightfighters. Many Sqns here 1941-43, including 88, 107, 234, 245, 417 and 421. 02/43 to 08/43, Fighter Leaders School from Chedworth, moved to Aston Down. 422nd and 425th NFS moved to Scorton for nightfighter training on P-61s with the RAF. 423rd NFS assigned to 10th Photo Reconaissance Group and moved to Chalgrove to form a night photographic unit on A-20 Havocs. 01/46 to 10/46, 92 Gliding School, ATC. Also used as Personnel Resettlement Centre for Australian troops. |
