08/44 490th Bomb Group converted to the B-17 Flying Fortress. Flew 158
missions losing 22 aircraft, the lowest loss rate of all the 8th USAAF
Bomb Groups, returned to the USA. 11/45, airfield
transferred to RAF Bomber Command until sold in 1962. |
