History:
4/44 to 8/45, 848th, 849th, 850th and 851st Bombardment Squadrons of the 490th Bombardment Group (Heavy) from the USA with B-24 Liberators, 8/44 converted to the B-17 Flying Fortress. Flew 158 missions losing 22 aircraft, the lowest loss rate of all the 8th USAAF Bomb Groups, returned to the USA.
11/45, airfield transferred to RAF Bomber Command until sold 1962.
