History:
10/42 to 1/43, 47th Bomb Group (M) with A-20 Havocs from Bury St Edmunds, left for North Africa.
5/43 to 6/43, 453rd, 454th, 455th and 456th Bomb Squadrons of the 323rd BG (M) with B-26 Marauders, moved to Earls Colne.
6/43 to 8/45, 334th, 335th, 336th and 412th Bombardment Squadrons of the 95th Bombardment Group (Heavy) arrived from Framlingham with B-17F's,
later equipped with B-17G's. Flew 320 missions losing 157 aircraft in combat and another 39 in accidents. 95th BG was the only 8th AF Group to win three Distinguished Unit Citations: Regensburg 17/8/43, Munster 10/10/43 and Berlin 4/3/44, also had the highest claim of 425 enemy aircraft destroyed.
10/45 to 10/48, Used by 25 and 262 MU's. 1950's, RAF Bloodhound missile site.
