History:
1/43 to 6/43, used by RAF 3 Group as a satellite to Honington then Halesworth.
6/43 to 8/45, 560th, 561st, 562nd and 563rd Bombardment Squadrons of the 388th Bombardment Group (Heavy) with B-17's. Flew 331 missions (including 19 Aphrodite missions from Fersfield) losing 179 B-17s. 6/9/43, lost 11 B-17's on a mission to Stuttgart including all the aircraft of the 563rd BS.
Airfield not used again and sold off 1957.
