then Halesworth. 06/43 to
08/45, 560th, 561st, 562nd and 563rd Bombardment Squadrons of the 388th
Bombardment Group (Heavy) with B-17's. Flew 331 missions (including 19
Aphrodite missions from Fersfield) losing
179 B-17s. 06/09/43, 388th Bomb Group lost 11 B-17 Flying Fortress on a mission to Stuttgart including all the aircraft of the 563rd BS. Airfield not
used again and sold off 1957. |
