History:
|
1940 to 1946, King George V playing fields (Mile Field) purchased by the
Government in 1940 for the construction of two large factories and final
assembly hangars. These were leased to London Aircraft Productions (LAP)
building Halifax bombers and Second Aircraft Group (SAG) which was part
of de Havilland at Hatfield building
Mosquitoes.1946 to , Airfield used by de Havilland for civil aircraft servicing and repair, later called the DH Engine Company, and later owned by Hawker Siddeley then Rolls Royce for jet engine manufacture. Airfield closed 1994. |
