The last raid from Middleton was 25/04/45, 279 bombers had been lost from this airfield. /1947 to /1956, 608 Sqn RAuxAF and No. 4 Flying Training School here. Used by Meteor Sqns until 1950, airfield rebuilt an drunways extended at various times in the 1950s. /63 to /64, 226 OCU here with BAC Lightnings. /65, RAF station closed and the airfield reopened 11/66 as civil airport. |
