7/42 to 8/42, 60 TCG, 28th Troop Carrier Sqn with C-47s. 8/42 to 5/43, 8th BC CCRU Combat Crew Replacement Unit. 8/42 to 9/42, 301st BG personnel here as satellite to Chelveston. Airfield then rebuilt with lengthened runways. 9/42 to 11/42, 15th BS here with Bostons, moved to North Africa. 5/43 to 6/43 100th BG 'The Bloody Hundredth' here, moved to Thorpe Abbotts. 9/43 to 7/45, 325th, 326th, 327th and 407th Bombardment Squadrons of the 92nd Bombardment Group (Heavy) 'Fames Favored Few' moved here from Alconbury with B-17s, flew a total of 308 missions. Airfield then used by Air Ministry for sandbag storage storage until sold 1961. |
