History:

1/45 to 3/46, 196 and 299 Sqn Stirlings of Transport Command flying supplies to SOE in Europe and training for airborne drops. 24/3/45, towed Horsa gliders as part of the Rhine Crossing operation. Postwar flew passengers and mail overseas. 1/45 to 4/45, 1677 Target Towing Flight with Martinets. 5/46 to 2/50, Shepherds Grove transferred to Central Signals Establishment becoming a satellite to Watton, Ansons and Lancasters stored here until the airfield was closed. |
