/05/1943 to /12/1945, 349th, 350th, 351st and 418th Bomb Squadrons of the 100th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 'The Bloody Hundredth' moved here from Podington, flying 306 B-17 Flying Fortress combat missions. Known as the 'Bloody Hundredth' due to high combat losses, this unit lost no more than was average for their length of service.
27/06/1946 to /04/1956, Returned to the RAF on care and maintenance until closure.
