08/41 to 05/42, 225 Squadron Lysanders, 08/41 Hurricane/Mustang, moved to Macmerry.
11/41 to 02/44, 1526 (BAT) Flight.
08/42 to 10/42, 298 Squadron with AW Whitley.
08/42 to 08/43, 297 Squadron Whitley/Albemarle 07/43 moved to Stoney Cross.
10/43 to 10/11/43, 168/170/268/63 Squadrons, moved to Sawbridgeworth.
Transferred to U.S. 9th Airforce 01/03/44.
29/02/44 to 20/06/44, 366th Fighter Group with P-47 Thunderbolts on ground attack missions over Normandy. First combat mission 14/01/44, 27 P-47s lost from Thruxton, moved to Normandy.
1311 Flt Anson 06/44 renamed 84 Group Comms Sqn 43 OTU Auster 06/44. Used for civil aviation post-war, 1967, first used for motor racing.
