The World War II control tower at Twatt aerodrome could be renovated and opened to the public by the Birsay Heritage Trust (
www.birsay.org.uk).
Councillors at today's OIC recreation and cultural services committee recommended that the trust take on the project, which will see them enter into a legal agreement with the council, as owners of this "important military site".
