History:
08/1943 to 06/1945, 576th, 577th, 578th and 579th Bombardment Squadrons of the 392nd Bombardment Group (H) with B-24 Liberators. First mission 09/09/1943, last mission 25/04/1945, flew 285 missions losing 127 aircraft in action along with another 57 in accidents, etc.
24/02/1944, Awarded Distinguished Unit Citation for the Gotha mission.
06/1945 to 11/1961, Used by RAF Maintenance Command as a standby airfield.
06/1960 to 04/1964, USAF radio station.
