Disused
but in good condition - due
for demolition by the Science Museum in 2010. Local
residents objections!
I was under the impression that the aim of the Science Museum at Wroughton was to house and preserve large objects of historic interest. Obviously this doesn't extend to a unique control tower! If the reason is due to its poor condition then maybe Science Musuem should have maintained it, after all they have been here since the 1970s. 'Buildings won't be bulldozed' Back in 2006 museum head Steve Briggs made assurances that historic buildings, including the control tower, would be saved; "...the original infrastructure and heritage of our site has been integrated into our masterplan with the value and importance of these historic buildings fully recognised."
